As the Head of Learning, you will have overall responsibility for creating and leading a high-quality therapeutic Alternative Education Provision. You will lead the set up of the service, build a brilliant and ambitious team and create a service in which children can learn, grow and get excited about their future.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the design mobilisation and delivery of Luna Learning, where children and young people are engaged and are meeting their learning goals.
Set clear education vision, high expectations and an inclusive culture where the service grows in line with the business plan.
Ensure every young person has an individual learning plan that aligns with their EHCP and LAC Education Plan.
Recruit and lead a skilled, compassionate team grounded in trust, accountability and the Luna values.
Champion trauma-informed and PACE-informed approaches.
Take responsibility for safeguarding, quality, performance and regulatory compliance.
Support, nurture and champion each child’s ambitions for the future.
Build strong and respectful relationships with young people, commissioners, virtual schools, SEND teams, local training and employment providers, schools and colleges and other professional partners.
Coach and develop your team through effective supervision, support and constructive challenge.
Manage the services resources including the financial performance.
Work in partnership with other Luna services including Luna Homes, Luna Fostering and Luna Living.
Play an important part in shaping the broader growth of Luna as part of the leadership team.
What you will bring:
Significant leadership experience within an educational setting.
Understanding of relationship based, trauma informed practice.
Knowledge of statutory guidance and the legal framework around alternative provision and the provision. of services for Looked After Children.
A thorough understanding of safeguarding and regulatory expectations (acknowledging that Alternative Provision isn’t currently regulated by Ofsted) of education provision.
Experience of contract monitoring or inspection processes and expectations.
The ability to manage competing pressures such as the wishes of the child and the expectations of commissioners, with confidence and creativity.
Experience of managing quality, performance, risk and continuous improvement.
The ability to build trusted relationships with children, families, colleagues and professional partners.
Resilience, creativity and sound judgement in complex and demanding situations.
A relevant management qualification, such as a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or a commitment to complete the required qualification.
Qualifications Required
Essential:
Able to be in full-time charge of the alternative education provision, work flexibly around the needs of children and staff, provide leadership outside standard office hours..
Full UK driving licence or ability to meet travel requirements.
Desirable:
Track record of successful Ofsted inspections in an education setting.
Experience of reporting internally and externally, commissioning relationships, care or health settings,.
